You can help make sure SA does not become the world's nuclear waste dump
Our Premier believes the SA public is in favour of investigating further the proposal for SA to become the world’s largest nuclear waste dump.
We know you and many other South Australians don’t agree and we want to make sure your voices continue to be heard. The rally on 15 October was a fabulous demonstration of opposition but we need to keep the pressure up.
The Premier has said he will take this to the SA Parliament in November – so the decision is only weeks away.
The Government is spending big on selling this idea to the SA community. So far it’s cost around $10 million, with a Royal Commission, a traveling roadshow, TV ads and a big social media presence.
Despite having to compete against this big spending promotion, we’ve had some great impact.
We got the Australia Institute to look into the economics of the Royal Commission’s plan and their analysis has shaken up the debate. We’ve voiced serious concerns on the way Traditional Owners have been consulted. Our information resources have been letterboxed by the thousands. Our new Facebook page Say No to Nuclear is reaching new audiences. And we helped organise the rally on 15 Oct that saw South Australians turn up in their thousands to say no to nuclear waste dumps.
We need to keep doing more work like this and getting our message out wider than ever. The government won't fund us to do this work. It comes down to people like you - people that really care about the future of South Australia and don't want us to become the world's nuclear waste dump. The best way to support our campaign is to make a regular monthly donation. This provides stable funding for this vitally important work. Even $5/month is incredibly valuable to us.
We don't have millions to throw at this like the government does. But we know we have the support of hundreds of thousands of South Australians.
